What is the most productive process in welding?

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW ) is the most productive process in thin sheet.
Submerged Arc welding (SAW) is the most productive process in thicker Sheet.

Which process is recommended for thin sheet < 3mm ?

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is recommended for thin sheet > 0.8 mm to 3 mm
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) is recommended for thin sheet < 0.8mm.

What process and equipment is used for structural steel welding?

Best Process – Flux Core Arc welding (FCAW) for all position welding and high thickness welding. For outdoor Self shielded FCAW to be used.
Economical Process – Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) for Indoor except overhead.
For Shielded Metal Arc welding (SMAW) option of thick structural joints low hydrogen electrode to be used.
Fastest process – Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) for Down Hand only.
Equipment – For Gas metal Arc welding (GMAW) and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) welding power source having constant voltage and wire feeder, welding Gun.
For Submerged Arc welding (SAW) – SAW Welding power source and Saw trolley.

What are the precaution to be taken for defect free welding?
  1. Proper cleaning of surface.
  2.  Electrodes will be preheated before welding. Pre heating temperature will be asper instruction given by electrodes manufacturer.
  3.  Proper Preheating of job and post weld heat treatment if required.
  4.  Proper welding parameter like voltage / current / welding speed.
  5.  Maintaining Inter pass temp for multi pass welding also proper removal of slag.
  6.  Avoid air flow and maintain proper gas flow rate in case of Gas Metal Arc welding (GMAW) welding.
  7. Proper coverage of weld bead with flux in case of Submerged Arc welding (SAW).
How welding of MS pipe is done?
  1. Root Weld with E 6010 electrode or Tungsten Arc welding (TIG) welding with proper root gap specified in WPS.
  2. Filler welding by electrode E 7018 or Flux Core Arc welding (FCAW) or  Gas metal arc Welding (GMAW).
What is the standard deposition rate in similar Working Condition?
  1. Shielded Metal arc Welding (SMAW) – ( 0.8 – 1.6 ) Kg/hour
  2. Gas Metal Arc welding (GMAW) – (0.9 -6.3) Kg/hour
  3.  Flux Core Arc welding  (FCAW)– (1.5- 5.5) Kg /hour
  4.  Submerged Arc welding (SAW) – (3.5-10.5) kg/hour Single wire

What is the difference between EP wire and HDG wire?
  1. EP wire have much lesser Zinc coating (< 10 GSM) than HDG wire (>30 GSM). BSRM wire uses HDG coating > 60 GSM in all their fencing products manufactured with fully automated plant with wax coating to ensure longer life.
  2. Life of EP wire is much lesser than HDG wire ( EP wire  easily get rusted )
What is reverse Twist Barbed wire and its advantage?

The Reverse Twist barbed wires switch directions at each barb insertion, producing a stronger, sag- resistant fence requires lesser barbed post. It also increases the running length/ kg barbed wire. BSRM WIRES is the only manufacturer of Reverse Twist Barbed wire in Bangladesh.

What properties to be looked during purchase of Fencing products like Barbed wire, Chain Link, Razor wire?
  • Which steel has been used

Fencing products wires made from virgin wire rods are best which maintain uniform physical and chemical properties through the entire length. BSRM wires imports the best quality wire rod to manufacture fencing products.

Fencing products made from ship breaking steel whose Physical & Chemical properties are not uniform throughout the length and are of questionable strength because of heavy fatigue. Hence hardness and ductility and strength of the wire will vary. Due to less/ non-uniform ductility it will be difficult and time consuming to lay the same and also very improper finish. More over this material having non uniform ductility and heavy fatigue will have higher chance of premature failure.

  •  Wire coating process

Fencing products wires made by HOT DIP Galvanizing process gives higher and uniform coating thickness and suitable for use in exposed atmosphere at all times. Hot Dipped wires will last much longer without corrosion thereby being cheaper in the long run. Hot Dipped wires are far better than EP wire. BSRM wires fencing products are produced by fully automatic machines with HDG wire having zinc coating > 60 GSM and gives very high operating life.

Why PVC coated wire will be used in chain link fence?
  1. To ensure double protection in open usage and specially in salty atmosphere. (PVC with HDG coating)
  2. Better aesthetic look and secure protection from unwanted entry.
  3. BSRM PVC coated wires is also UV protected and it prevents damage from strong Sunlight.

What is LRPC?

PC means Low  Relaxation Pre stressed Concrete steel strands and wires are used in  pre cast concrete structure like bridges , PC poles, concrete ducts etc. The advantages of LRPC are follows;

  • Reduction in steel requirement
  • Saving in number of anchorages, ducts, sheathings, wedges and labor resulting in overall reduction of project cost.
  • Reduction in concrete requirement due to reduced size of structural members

BSRM wires is the only manufacturer of  LRPC wires and Strands  as per International standards like JIS, ASTM   in Bangladesh. (Now this line may be removed and will be added after starting of production)

For details -Please refer LRPC catalogue.

What is “ACSR core wire”?

“ACSR core wire “ is the steel core wire used in the core of ACSR conductors. This is mainly used by ACSR conductor manufacturer on which they lay the Aluminum conductors

BSRM manufactures this steel core wires, the steel core may be single or stranded depending on the size.

BSRM wires is the only manufacturer of ACSR core wires and core wire Strands as per International Standard (ASTM) in Bangladesh.

For details please refer ACSR core wire catalogue.

What is Gabion?

Gabion is a welded wire cage or box filled with materials such as stones, concrete, sand or soil. So Gabion is a partially flexible block construction used for slope stability & erosion protection.    For details please refer gabion Catalogue.
